The Chinese American Music Ensemble (CAME) is a
program of the Chinese American Cultural Association (CACA) which
seeks to promote the exchange between the Chinese and Western
cultures. CAME is a not-for-profit choral group with the mission of
encouraging the love of choral music, culture, and harmony throughout
our community.
Founded in 1994 by a group of music lovers from central New Jersey,
the Ensemble consists of Children’s (age 6-11), Young People’s(age
12-18), Adult and Chamber Choruses (age 18 and up). Our weekly
rehearsals take place on Saturdays from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Willow
Grove Presbyterian Church in Scotch Plains. Since September 2006, Dr.
Victor Shen has served as the Artistic Director for the Ensemble.
Currently, Dr. Shuang Guo, Dr. Victor Shen and Emily Sensenbach-Gopal
are the conductors for the Adult Chorus, Chamber Chorus/Young People’s
Chorus and the Children’s Chorus respectively. Miss Iris Chen, Eliza
Chou and Rebecca Quan are the piano accompanists for the Adult/Chamber
Chorus, Young People’s Chorus and Children’s Chorus respectively.
The CAME is proud to be the recipient of both the Union County Arts
Grant and the HEART Grant for many years. The Ensemble is also the
only choral program in NJ that offers choral music training for all
ages at the same time and place. The Ensemble has an excellent
artistic staff as well as a devoted volunteer administration staff. We
invite the music lovers to join us. For additional information, please
visit CAME’s web site at www.came-nj.org.
